Navitat opened its first canopy tour here in 2010 and added the Mountaintop Tour a few years later, building a reputation as one of the most scenic zipline experiences in the Southeast. The property is managed with conservation in mind, and guides weave in natural history — the forest, the plants and the mountains on the horizon — between platforms.
Booking craft: reserve online ahead of time, especially for fall weekends. Choose the Mountaintop Tour for the biggest speed and views, or the Treetop Express for a first zipline or younger kids; the Ultimate Adventure Package combines both zipline tours in one day. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can move in, secure loose items, and arrive early for gear-up and safety briefing. Read the requirements and policies page for minimum ages and weight limits before you book.
Practicals and fit: 242 Poverty Branch Road, Barnardsville; open Thursday through Monday in season, closed for winter. About 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Fit: outdoors lovers, adventurous couples and families with kids who meet the requirements.
